Celebrations bring new life to communities

Earth Day is coming soon—it’s April 22.

In the face of increasing threats to creation, Catholics around the world are standing up together. This Earth Day, we’re coming together for the Amazon, where forests and their rich diversity of life are being eradicated.

Wherever we live, we’re all part of the circle of protection for the Amazon and all creation. Join the global Catholic community in a prophetic action this Earth Day:

  • plant a tree to celebrate your commitment to protecting forests in the Amazon and beyond, and
  • send a letter to your local officials, urging action on climate change to protect the Amazon and all of creation.

All the resources you need to plan and celebrate your event are available free of charge. Testimonies from the Amazon, lesson plans for children and adolescents, and your complete event planning guide are available here. Catholics are uniting in a prophetic action to protect creation—you’re called to join.

This year, Earth Day falls on the Monday after Easter. We encourage you to plan an event for the following Sunday, April 28, which is the Feast of Divine Mercy, as a sign of our hope and commitment to new life for creation.

The people and places we love depend on us for protection. Please join the global Catholic community in celebrating this Earth Day. Your witness is a blessing for the Amazon, and for all creation.
