The National Commission for Justice and Peace advises the Scottish Bishops’ Conference of the Catholic Church in matters relating to social justice, international peace and human rights, and promotes action in these areas.   It works in accordance with the Social Teaching of the Catholic Church. 
 

P/T SOCIAL JUSTICE CO-ORDINATOR - Salary - £25,000 
This post will be at once challenging and rewarding.  The postholder will be expected to motivate, reinvigorate and co-ordinate the existing work of the commission, as well as encourage new activity in the area of Justice and Peace in Scotland.
Applicants for the post must be able to evidence an ability to build a high profile for Justice and Peace through good presentational, communication and networking skills.  They should also be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of world affairs and politics.  An ability to motivate and encourage people, from all sections of the community, to become aware and involved in meaningful and manageable action is also essential.    The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual who has a proven track record of being able to work on their own initiative.  Post is 25 hours per week.
 

P/T SOCIAL JUSTICE CAMPAIGNS AND COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER - Salary - £17,843
The post-holder will be expected to raise awareness, supply information, and alert stakeholders to social justice issues and campaigns of interest to the Catholic Church in Scotland.
Applicants for the post must be able to evidence an ability to interpret Justice and Peace policies and convey clearly to other agencies as the need arises.  They should also be able to demonstrate a good grasp of world affairs and politics.  The successful candidate will have the ability to effectively manage and co-ordinate all administrative aspects of the day to day running of the Justice and Peace Office.  The ideal candidate will be organised, efficient and will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  The post-holder must be proficient in the use of Microsoft packages.  Sound knowledge and experience in managing social media and websites is also required.  Post is 24 hours per week.
 

Both posts are based in Glasgow and will require a degree of flexibility as some travel, evening and weekend work is required.
