Further Resources for Bishop Moran’s January Letter.

Eco Congregation Scotland http://www.ecocongregation.org/scotland/ is an ecumenical programme which aims to help us, starting with our parishes, to understand environmental issues in practical and spiritual terms. It can help reduce church expenditure. It is a great project for getting people involved (especially younger people, who often have much to give). The lessons learned about making lifestyle sustainable can then be taken out into home and work life, as a part of our faith, exercising responsible stewardship.
Pax Christi has produced a valuable pamphlet of resources for Peace Sunday (which they celebrate on a different date however). Suggestions for liturgy, bidding prayers and practical suggestions for lifestyle changes as well as other resources can be found at: http://www.paxchristi.org.uk/PeaceSunday.html
Prayers of the Faithful for Epiphany
The Creator entrusted us with the care of creation. Let us give thanks with careful stewardship of this gift. Let us pray to the Lord: Lord of Creation, grant us your peace.
Let us pray for ourselves and our families. May we have reverence for creation and live in harmony both with our neighbours and with the world around. Let us pray to the Lord: Lord of Creation, grant us your peace.
We pray for our parish community. May we be good stewards of our local environment, treading lightly on the earth and celebrating the beauty of the world. Let us pray to the Lord: Lord of Creation, grant us your peace.
In our remembrance of the dead today, we call to mind all who have died because of the damage we humans have done to our world – the victims of air pollution, of floods caused by deforestation, of conflicts over natural resources: for eternal life for all who have died and for a healing of the human spirit. Let us pray to the Lord: Lord of Creation, grant us your peace.
Heavenly Father, all life comes from you and all life belongs to you. Help us to live peaceably in your world and to safeguard its beauty. To you we make these our prayers, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
