Conference Report - Stories from the Edge
Categories: Articles:Social Justice |
Published: 23/11/2017 |
Feeding back from the conference which took place in October 2017, this report explores how faith communities in post-industrial towns across Scotland are helping to build a Good Society through social action to tackle the effects of poverty.
It includes details of two contrasting projects in the post-industrial towns of Arbroath and Port Glasgow, and the discussions which followed which focussed on: what was already being done in towns to create a Good Society in Scotland; what more needs to be done in post-industrial towns; what help and support needs to be provided there; and what needs to be done to bring those on the edge of society closer to the centre.
The conference was organised by Church Action on Poverty, in partnership with Action of Churches Together in Scotland (ACTS) and the Conforti Institute.
